Lenovo introduces the first ThinkPad with an ARM processor

More than two years after the Surface Pro X debuted, Lenovo introduces the first business computer with an ARM processor.

Apple has proven that ARM processors are the development trend in the laptop sector . Microsoft previously for more than two years had a custom version of Windows 10/11 that worked with ARM PCs , but there aren’t many ARM-based designs on the market. Mobile phone chips have not been widespread in the Windows PC market, but they cannot be ignored. Apple and customers around the world have appreciated the high work culture and amazing battery life of computers equipped with ARM chips .

Lenovo has just unveiled the first ThinkPad series business computer powered by an ARM processor . The laptop also has a built-in 5G network modem , always-on function (continuously connected to the network in sleep mode) and a battery that lasts up to 28 hours of operation .

The computer weighs only 1.12 kg , so 90% of the housing is made of magnets obtained from the recycling process . The computer has a 5G modem compatible with mmWave networks and sub-6 GHz . There was also Wi-Fi 6E . The highest configuration has 32GB of RAM and 1TB SSD NVMe media . Users can use two USB Type-C 3.2 ports .

The laptop uses the Windows 11 Pro operating system and the drivers have been optimized by Lenovo and Qualcomm . The computer has an AI-based automatic cropping function and active noise reduction from the environment along with three groups of microphones. The ThinkPad X13s also detects a user and can automatically turn off or dim the screen when another character appears behind the person using the computer.

Lenovo dedicates the laptop to administrative staff and managers . The ThinkPad X13s include an excellent lightweight laptop with 5G connectivity and a well-made cover . It certainly isn’t lacking in performance either, but the problem could be poor compatibility with common software written in x86 architecture .
