After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, many technology companies restricted their distribution and advertising tools to Russian news publishers. The European Commission is preparing to ban Russian media activity for fear of spreading misinformation about the war in Ukraine. In particular, Russia Today TV and Sputnik News Agency are propaganda mouthpieces of the Kremlin.

RT Deputy Editor-in-Chief Anna Belkina issued a statement today that the tech companies that have restricted their station’s distribution have not provided any evidence that the station provided false information.

Apple also announced today that RT News and Sputnik News are no longer available for download from its App Store outside of Russia.

Google has also banned Russian media outlets on YouTube and the ability to earn ads from Russian state media.
