Anonymus declares war, and Ukrainian IT professionals are doing the same

Ukrainians move closer to the ranks on the digital battlefield as the enemy attacks the country. Not only are they. Hackers from Anonymus yesterday declared a digital war to the Russian authorities.

The world’s largest hacker group, Anonymus, launched a cyberwar with Russia late yesterday evening. We didn’t have to wait long for the effects to appear. Hackers targeted the website of Russia Today, a worldwide Russian-funded TV news channel also known as the Kremlin’s propaganda channel. The Russian Ministry of National Defense website has encountered problems, and DDoS attacks have slowed down the website. The Russian security services have raised the alert level, but so far nothing indicates that Anonymus’ actions could seriously harm the aggressor’s side in the war with Ukraine.

There is a lot going on on the cyber front. Yesterday, as reported by NBC News, Joe Biden received a plan and a proposal to launch a dangerous cyber attack on Russia. It has assumed, according to the source, an impact on critical infrastructure, interruption of internet connectivity, electricity supply, or control of the rail network.

It is unlikely that the US president will make a decision on such a step, because it could mean a technological war for the United States, in which the losses could be huge for both sides.

Ukrainians, who will use all possible measures to defend their homeland, have no such resistance.

Since yesterday, Ukrainian IT companies began to make public announcements of digital support, which can be clearly seen in the field of social media. In this case, two parties “at once” wanted – the state administration issued a plea for help – both the official companies and the secret Ukrainian hacker. According to the Ukrainian media and information published on the social networking site, specialists should protect the Ukrainian digital infrastructure against further cyberattacks, and, on the other hand, be an offensive weapon and carry out cyberattacks directed against Russia, in the first place. To stop the enemy in hostilities, monitor the network and provide information.

Given the fact that in recent years IT professionals have become an export product of Ukraine, the potential of Ukraine in the field of digital combat is great.
