FIFA 23 is free to play? Check out what we already know about one of the hottest premieres this year 

Electronic Arts’ FIFA series of soccer games is one of the most popular in the industry. According to VGChartz, it is currently the sixth best-selling gaming brand in history, with over 325 million copies sold. However, more and more are indicating that the next installment of the cycle – FIFA 23 , will also be the last, or at least in the form we know it so far.

FIFA 23, or EA Sports FC? What will EA Sports be called?

For several months now, there has been an open dispute between the owners of Electronic Arts and Fédération Internationale de Football Association (Fédération Internationale de Football Association).

The main element in the dispute is the licensing fee for the rights to use the FIFA brand . The current agreement between the parties is coming to an end and, according to The New York Times, the FIFA authorities have demanded that the amount paid by EA for trademark rights be doubled.

This means that Electronic Arts will have to pay close to $1 billion for a four-year contract.

Of course, the game producer didn’t want to agree to this, because he thought that this amount was definitely too high. Furthermore, FIFA wants to include points in the new agreement that will in many ways limit EA Sports’ ability to develop the series.

Electronic Arts still owns the rights to the trademark and we can safely assume that they will want to use it “to its fullest”. This means that this year, as planned, we will receive the next installment of the cult series in the form of FIFA 23 .

However, it is no longer a secret that EA has recently registered the trademark EA Sports FC which is directly related to video games.

Moreover, the owners of EA Sports boldly assert that they can make the decision to create their own brand because, in addition to FIFA, they also have dozens of other partners with whom they cooperate in creating football games.

What does FIFA say? As reported by the famous journalist Jeff Grubb, FIFA has updated its branding and added the possibility of game development to it.

But that’s not all, the football organization’s referees have reportedly already spoken with representatives of 2K Games, who will continue the FIFA series in the coming years.

FIFA 22 was kind of a revolution. HyperMotion technology, which allows you to accurately scan the movements of players and realistically transfer them to the game world, made playing in the current version of the series a real pleasure.

Unfortunately, only owners of new generation consoles – PS5 and Xbox Series can take advantage of the new technology.

The PS4, Xbox One, and PC version of the game is actually somewhat of an enhanced FIFA 21.

While we can understand why outdated eighth generation video game consoles don’t get all the features, it’s surprising that PC gamers are denied access to the best version of the game.

Can we expect a similar scenario in FIFA this year? It is unlikely to happen. Not only will EA Sports want to say goodbye to the series, but they will also be aware of the new technology and will be able to bring it to life on PC without any worries.

FIFA 23 is free to play?

 

There have been rumors for years about the FIFA series moving to a free-to-play model. They have been gaining traction in recent months.

However tempting FIFA 23 free-to-play with an optional micropayment system may seem to players, it is unlikely that EA would voluntarily give up the huge profits derived directly from the sale of the game .

Especially now, when confusion with licensing rights may lead to increased interest in FIFA 23. We’ll have to wait until at least 2023 and the potential debut of EA Sports FC for a possible transition from EA Sports to the free-to-play model.

FIFA 23 will allow cross-platform play

According to the seasoned journalist and leaker – Tom Henderson, FIFA 23 as the first installment in the history of the series will allow cross-platform play .

This means that PC and console players will be able to compete together.

Henderson stresses, however, that he’s not sure if cross-platform playability will apply to all modes in FIFA 23 .
