Chrome OS Flex Debuts 2022

Yesterday, Google unveiled Chrome OS Flex. This portends a new initiative to bring Chrome OS to all PCs and older Apple (Mac) computers that have Intel x86 processors.

The new system is based largely on CloudReady software that Google acquired two years ago. Chrome OS Flex is primarily designed for companies that want to extend the life of their hardware, which will be possible after installing this system on them. The idea is for businesses to get the most out of Chrome OS on almost any computer they own.

Google has published a list of supported PCs that Chrome OS Flex can be installed on. He also points out that sometimes this may require some knowledge as in some computers the user needs to make some changes to the BIOS in order to be able to enter into boot mode by downloading the system from a USB drive.

Chrome OS and Chrome OS Flex use the same code, so they are based on identical interfaces and behave identically from a user’s point of view. However, Google maintains that this is still an early beta version of the system and there may be some bugs in it which will be removed gradually.
